The combined CET is the important change
MAH BHMCT CET is the familiar search name for Maharashtra's hotel management entrance route. For the 2026 cycle, the official brochure calls the examination MAH-BHMCT/BCA/BBA/BMS/BBM CET. The State Common Entrance Test Cell conducts it for several undergraduate courses, including Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology.
The brochure covers entry to the four-year BHMCT and the five-year integrated hotel management programme. Choose the hotel management course when reading admission information: the common test name also contains unrelated courses. A CET score is a step towards admission; the relevant course admission process still determines eligibility and allotment.
For a student in Jalandhar, this route makes sense when Maharashtra colleges are on the shortlist. Compare it with the NCHM JEE route to participating IHMs and the hotel management entrance exam comparison before committing to an exam plan.
Read the category conditions carefully
The 2026 exam brochure states that BHMCT and the integrated hotel management route require a pass in 10+2 or an equivalent examination with at least 45% aggregate marks. It gives a lower threshold of 40% for the specified reserved categories, Economically Weaker Section and candidates with disabilities belonging to Maharashtra state only.
Students appearing for 10+2 or its equivalent can also appear for the CET. Appearing in the test does not remove the requirement to satisfy the eventual admission conditions. The exam brochure itself notes that its eligibility wording follows the previous CAP information brochure, so read the course admission rules published for your admission year.
If you study in Punjab, do not assume that a Maharashtra category concession applies to you. Confirm your candidature type, supporting documents and qualifying marks through the official admission portal before relying on a category benefit or filling course preferences.
The published 2026 paper
The test is online, in English, with 100 objective multiple-choice questions in 120 minutes. Each question has four options. The brochure awards one mark per question and states that there is no negative marking.
- English Language: 30 questions, 30 marks.
- Reasoning, verbal and arithmetic: 30 questions, 30 marks.
- General Knowledge and Awareness: 20 questions, 20 marks.
- Computer Basics: 20 questions, 20 marks.
Together, the sections total 100 marks. The brochure describes general awareness as including culture, current national and international affairs, trade and commerce, sports, and scientific inventions and discoveries. Read the current syllabus alongside the table. Computer Basics belongs in a 2026 preparation plan even if older hotel entrance material leaves it out.
The CET and course admission need separate attention
Use the State CET Cell website to find the examination portal, read the information brochure and complete the online application. Follow the official instructions for payment, identity details, photograph and hall ticket. Check that the name on your identification and application agrees before the examination.
After the result, follow the BHMCT course admission portal and its Centralised Admission Process notices. Registration for the examination is not a substitute for responding to admission notices. Read the published requirements for documents, preferences, allotment and reporting. Keep copies of submitted forms and acknowledgements so that an application error can be traced without guessing what was entered.
How we would prepare a student in Jalandhar
The following is AptiGuide coaching guidance, not an official preparation schedule. Begin by comparing your existing material with the current combined CET syllabus. Build English comprehension and accuracy through short reading passages, vocabulary in context and careful review of incorrect answers. For reasoning, work through verbal problems and arithmetic with written working before trying to increase speed.
Keep general awareness notes organised by topic so that revision remains manageable. Read the published Computer Basics syllabus and practise the listed concepts instead of assuming everyday phone use covers the section. Use timed mixed practice after you have repaired the main gaps.
During review, record why an answer went wrong: misunderstood language, weak concept, calculation error or rushed selection. That diagnosis is more useful than repeatedly taking papers without changing how you study. Practise using the full published duration and leave time to return to unanswered questions. Recheck the marking rule when the next brochure appears before carrying the same attempt strategy into another cycle.
Use the next official notice for your application dates
2027 dates are not announced as of 2026-10-28. The 2026 pattern gives you a preparation starting point, while the next cycle's brochure will control the application schedule and final rules. Avoid treating an old registration window as a new deadline.
