What is NCHM JEE?

NCHM JEE is the National Council for Hotel Management Joint Entrance Examination. NTA conducts it for admission to the three-year B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration at institutions in NCHMCT's academic network, including central, state and private IHMs.

The course combines practical hospitality training with management study. Current NCHMCT documentation names Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) as the degree-awarding university. Older guides mention IGNOU; that arrangement has ended. Official source.

NCHM JEE eligibility

  • Qualification: pass a recognised 10+2 or equivalent examination, with English passed as a core, elective or functional subject.
  • Stream: science is not required. Commerce and humanities students can meet the same qualification rule; school Mathematics is not compulsory.
  • Age: the 2026 bulletin has no age restriction.
  • Appearing students: provisional participation is allowed, subject to producing qualifying-exam proof under the admission rules.
  • Other conditions: the bulletin lists accepted equivalent examinations. NIOS and state open-school candidates need at least five subjects including English. A prescribed medical fitness certificate is required at admission.

Check your board's recognition and documents before applying. Use the next cycle's notice for its proof deadlines.

NCHM JEE syllabus and section preparation

The bulletin names the sections, without an exhaustive topic list. The practice topics below are our coaching guidance.

English Language
Practise comprehension, vocabulary in context, grammar and sentence usage. Read a passage, identify its main point and explain why the rejected options fail. Keep an error notebook for recurring language mistakes.
Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude
Revise percentages, ratios, averages, profit and loss, time and work, and data interpretation. Solve accurately before adding time limits. Write the setup and units so arithmetic slips are easier to diagnose.
Reasoning and Logical Deduction
Work on series, relationships, directions, arrangements and logical deductions. Draw a diagram where useful. After each set, separate what the question states from what you assumed.
General Knowledge and Current Affairs
Read reliable news and revise short notes on major events, geography, culture and tourism. Use recall questions rather than rereading everything. Connect events to their place and context.
Aptitude for Service Sector
Discuss situations involving guests, complaints, teamwork, safety and professional conduct. Compare responses for practical judgement and respect. A polite phrase alone does not resolve a service problem.

A 12-week NCHM JEE preparation plan

This is a suggested study schedule. Adjust it around board exams and your starting level.

WeeksFocusReview task
1 to 2Diagnostic practice; English and arithmetic foundations.List weak topics and reading errors.
3 to 4Reasoning basics; vocabulary and news notes.Reattempt earlier mistakes without solutions.
5 to 6Timed section sets; service situations.Check accuracy before increasing pace.
7 to 8Mixed practice and full-length mocks.Classify knowledge, reading and timing errors.
9 to 10Repair weak areas; revise current affairs.Test whether repeated errors have stopped.
11 to 12Exam-format mocks; light revision and logistics.Confirm documents and instructions.

Common mistakes

Avoid practising an old pattern without checking the cycle, neglecting English, guessing blindly despite negative marking, and taking mocks without reviewing errors. Keep counselling deadlines alongside your study calendar.
