GMAT coaching at AptiGuide, at a glance
Working toward a global MBA
A professional with 2+ years of experience
The profile most GMAT-accepting programs expect. Preparation is planned around a working schedule, not a fixed classroom slot.
Considering a global MBA
GMAT opens global MBA programs and ISB. A short profile and goal conversation up front confirms this is genuinely the right exam before months of preparation begin.
A CAT aspirant switching after not converting
CAT and GMAT test verbal reasoning in fundamentally different ways. A direct continuation of CAT-style preparation into GMAT usually underperforms; the switch needs a fresh strategy.
The GMAT format and the MBA application
The GMAT Focus Edition, restructured in 2023, runs 2 hours 15 minutes across three sections and lets a candidate choose the order they attempt them in. Data Sufficiency moved out of Quant and into the new Data Insights section, and the old AWA essay was removed entirely, so preparation built on the retired four-section format is working from outdated material.
| Section | Duration | Questions | What It Tests |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quantitative Reasoning | 45 minutes | 21 | Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, word problems, Problem Solving only |
| Verbal Reasoning | 45 minutes | 23 | Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension, Sentence Correction removed |
| Data Insights | 45 minutes | 20 | Data Sufficiency, Multi-Source Reasoning, Table Analysis, Graphics Interpretation, Two-Part Analysis |
Score runs 205 to 805 in 10-point increments, valid for 5 years, with up to 5 attempts a year and 8 in a lifetime. AptiGuide integrates the score with the wider application from the first session: profile evaluation, university shortlisting calibrated to the actual score and work experience, and SOP guidance, since a strong score aimed at the wrong tier of school is a common, avoidable mistake.
How one-to-one GMAT preparation works
GMAT is not taught as a large batch. Preparation is one-to-one, diagnostic-first, and integrated with the application from the start.
- Diagnostic and target settingAn official GMAT Focus Edition mock sets the baseline, reviewed by accuracy, timing and error pattern per question type. A realistic target score is set against the student's profile and target school list.
- Concept and accuracy buildingQuant taught for question-type recognition over brute-force calculation. Verbal Critical Reasoning trained through argument mapping; Reading Comprehension through passage mapping. Data Insights logic drilled separately from calculation.
- Timed practice and integrationSections practiced under timed conditions with mixed, unpredictable question order, matching real exam conditions rather than topic-grouped drills.
- Full mocks and application planningFull-length Focus Edition mocks alongside university shortlisting, SOP guidance and, where relevant, visa process orientation.
