IIHM organises eCHAT for admission to its hotel and hospitality programmes. Its own portal describes an online aptitude test followed by a personal interview. Selection considers both the test score and the interview. A student who practises only written questions leaves part of the selection process unprepared.
For a family in Jalandhar, start with the campus and qualification you want to pursue. Ask for the exact programme title, awarding institution, recognition details, training arrangements and full cost. Different hospitality programmes can sound similar while leading to different qualifications. An entrance result alone does not answer those course questions.

Check English and the current admission conditions
The portal's published qualification requirement covers candidates who have passed or appeared in Class 10+2 or an equivalent examination, with English as a subject. Keep your marksheets and English subject details ready when discussing your application.
The portal contains mixed year labels in its eligibility information. Confirm the current age rule and any campus or programme conditions directly before paying. We have left out an age cutoff because a previous session's reference date should not become a rule for your application year. Being allowed to take an entrance test also requires checking the eligibility of the qualification you intend to join.
What the online test covers
The official portal publishes an objective multiple-choice test with 50 questions in 60 minutes. It names English Language, Mathematical Aptitude, Reasoning and General Awareness. It does not give a section-wise question split in the information reviewed, so do not build your plan around an assumed distribution.
The published instructions describe eCHAT from home and video-call interviews. The admit slip is sent by email and contains the examination date and time. Read that communication carefully for your own slot, equipment requirements and identification instructions. Confirm the current arrangements if the fresh admission notice changes them.

Treat the interview as part of admission
Register through the exam portal, complete the application and follow the instructions for your selected slot. Check the email address you supplied so that you receive your admit slip and further communication. Keep an application record and ask the admissions team about anything that does not match your course or campus choice.
The portal says selection is based on the eCHAT score and personal interview. It does not support treating the test score as an automatic admission offer. After selection, review the written course offer and document requirements before completing the admission formalities.
Prepare aptitude and spoken answers together

For mathematical aptitude, revise arithmetic and practise translating a short word problem into a calculation. In reasoning, write down the condition that controls your answer instead of choosing the option that merely looks familiar. Keep a mistake record so the next practice session addresses the actual gap.
Read current news with attention to places, organisations and events you can explain clearly. For timed practice, use the published 50-question, 60-minute format and review unfinished questions afterwards. The aim is to identify where time disappeared and whether an error came from knowledge, reading or calculation.
For the interview, explain why you want hospitality, what you understand about hotel departments and what you have done to explore the work. Use a real example when describing teamwork or handling a dissatisfied person. Practise speaking on camera and listening to the whole question. A memorised speech can make a straightforward answer sound less convincing.
