Build a Gap-Year Plan With a Downside Case

A gap year is defensible when the target, weekly work and exit rule are visible before the year begins. It becomes risky when the family funds hope without checkpoints.

Exam-retry path

Define the target exam, score gap, changed preparation method and monthly mock threshold. Budget coaching, materials and living costs. Set a review date at which the student activates the parallel college route if progress is flat.

Portfolio and admissions path

Choose two substantial outputs, such as research, a product, community work or an internship. Cost the programme, travel and application fees. The output must remain useful even if the dream admission does not arrive.
